THIS WEEK'S ACTIONS:
6/23/2022 to 6/30/2022

This week I'm going to call one of my senators. If you'd like to call too, you can get your senators' phone# by clicking here.  I've written a script below that you can use or alter as you wish.

You might get a real person. If so, ask to speak with the senator. If the senator is not available, ask for the staff person who deals with education and schooling issues. If a real person does not answer the phone, and you get sent to voicemail, you can speak the script as a voicemail.

Script:

Dear Senator ___________ , my name is [NAME], and I’m a constituent from [CITY and ZIP]. Please sponsor legislation recognizing for poor and middle class families a basic right already enjoyed by wealthier families: namely, the broadest possible freedom in choosing the schools their children attend. One method that has worked in other states is for the state on a means-tested basis to deposit funds in education savings accounts set up for each eligible family. The accounts are monitored by a nonprofit, and each family gets to use the funds in its account to freely choose a school and other educational resources. Edchoice dot org is the best nonpartisan information resource for lawmakers interested in this issue. Our society needs to stop depriving lower income parents of educational freedom, a right inherent to freedom of speech and expression. Thank you for representing our views in Congress and for your public service. [IF LEAVING THE SENATOR A VOICEMAIL, LEAVE YOUR FULL STREET ADDRESS TO ENSURE YOUR CALL IS TALLIED]
